I'm not exactly sure how to weave this blog into the Tapped In WriteTalk group, but let's see what happens, eh? Layers of technology. Can have multiple authors here. I also thought this would be a good web location for WriteTalk guidelines -- in addition to shared files posted in my office and AAMU Writing Project office at Tapped In.
It's interesting... but I haven't really gotten into blogs... yet. Oh... I have an account at ujournal, and another one at xanga... but I don't spend much time at either. I wrote some at the NECC conference blog. The thing that interests me most about them is that many people really are into them... which therefore makes it important for me to know and look at them.
They serve a definite purpose as a way to create a self-reflective journal, with the ability for others to post comments. You could of course do something similar with a threaded discussion on any message board (like those at Tapped In). Ease of use, different "skins" (very appealing to youth), and also instant linking to other blogs (a critical and important feature), make them useful.
However, my "downside" to blogs is that they tend to die after time... I could be wrong, but I prefer a community that sustains over time... which of course explains my bias in favor of Tapped In.
